Brian Taylor
Brian Taylor focuses on Russia and the post-Soviet region. Taylor is the author of State Building in Putin’s Russia: Policing and Coercion After Communism and Politics and the Russian Army: Civil-Military Relations, 1689-2000 and Russia Politics. He has also written extensively on Russian elite politics, including the nature of Putinism, and has interests in comparative state-building and civil-military relations.
Togzhan Kassenova
Dr. Togzhan Kassenova is a senior fellow with the Project on International Security, Commerce, and Economic Statecraft (PISCES) at the Center for Policy Research, SUNY-Albany, and a nonresident fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Her expertise includes nuclear politics, WMD nonproliferation, and financial crime prevention. Kassenova holds a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds and is the author of Atomic Steppe: How Kazakhstan Gave Up the Bomb (2022).
